Won't allow me to route walking trail

Hello!
There is a walking trail near my house. It shows up on satellite view only. I cannot route it because it is trying to keep me on main roads. Is there a way to get it to let me do this?

Yes, switch the routing mode to "Straight line". You can then mark points along the walking trail. Unlike the other routing modes which follow roads, "Straight line" mode allows you to mark points anywhere on the map. You can freely switch between "Straight line" and "Run/Walk" while creating your route.
