Newbie - can't get it to work

Hi All
I am a new user hoping to use the Map Pedometer to track my walks for exercise.
The map looks promising however I can't seem to get started setting out a route.
I have searched for and found my "home" address.
I assume that in order to commence a route I have to click on the sidewalk near the base. That part seems to work.
However when I try to click elsewhere on the map (even to the nearest corner to "home") I get a message that says it cannot compute the route.
I have tried this a number of times with the same result each time.
Can anyone help me, please!

Welcome. We are sorry that you encountered this problem. You weren't doing anything wrong. There is an intermittent issue that has recently affected the creation of routes in some routing modes.

Please try again as the problem is intermittent.
