Is there any way to keep kilometres as my default distance setting? Every time I change pages, the distance goes back to miles.

Yes, when you first created your account there was a question "Default Map Units" which allowed you to select your preferred default distance measurement. You can update you default map units using the user control panel profile editor: http://www.mappedometer.com/forum/ucp.php?i=173

Click on the above link. In the "Default Map Units" pull-down box, select "Kilometers" and then click on the Submit button.
