GPX file not downloading

When I download a GPX file, I get the acrobat error "Adobe acrobat cannot open because it is either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged."

How can I avoid this error?

The GPX file is a plain text file. You cannot open it with Adobe Acrobat. It can be opened with any text editor like Windows Notepad.
